Hands on experience in rail yard switching and train operations, specializing in breaking down railroad terminology, rules and procedures to layman understanding. My background includes 32 years as a switchman, conductor & locomotive engineer. Served from 2003 to 2010 as a full-time division safety coordinator for the BNSF in a five state region. Proficient in GCOR operating and safety rules interpretation. Experienced in labor and carrier safety processes such as job safety briefings, empowerment and joint mgmt. & labor safety working relationships. Knowledge in Operation Testing, Investigation Procedure and Supervisor Drug-Alcohol Testing Procedures. Additional training in: Haz-Mat Training at the George Meany Institute of Labor in Silver Springs, MD. Involvement in Critical Incident Response Training, along with Operation: Stop - dealing in Peer Drug, Alcohol Abuse Prevention and Operation: Lifesaver - Grade Crossing Awareness Presentations. Awarded the BNSF Hill-Holliday Award in 1997 and the UTU Brass Lantern Award in 2010 regarding safe work practices. 20 years experience as an organized labor officer.
