Carl Berkowitz, Ph.D., PE, AICP is a transportation and traffic engineering expert and has served as a litigation consultant since 1997. Because of Dr. Berkowitz’s 47 years of expertise, he is frequently consulted at the initial stages of a potential litigation for impartial input that can make the crucial difference between success and failure. As a transportation and traffic expert he is able to assess the technical merits of a case and advise the client if the action is worth pursuing. Dr. Berkowitz has written and edited numerous reports, studies, articles and columns for major publications, journals, newspapers and scholarly periodicals. He is a Professional Engineer in New York and New Jersey, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, American Society of Civil Engineers (Fellow), Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals, Institute of Transportation Engineers (Vice Chair for Technology, Expert Witness Council), American Society of Safety Engineers, National Association of Railroad Safety Consultants and Investigators, American Society of Transportation and Logistics, American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association (Committees 11 and 12) and The Charter Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK).

Dr. Berkowitz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The City College of New York and a Master’s Degree in Transportation Planning and a Ph.D. in Transportation Planning and Engineering from Polytechnic University (NYU-Poly).
