Mr. Bodnar was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended public and parochial schools, Robert Morris College, the U.S. Department of Transportation Safety Institute, and is an Army Veteran serving at Ft. Eustis, Virginia with the 714th Transportation Battalion as a Military Train Dispatcher. His railroad background includes 44 years of experience in the railroad industry that includes 12 years of service as an Operating Practices Inspector with the Federal Railroad Administration. He pursued the craft occupations of Operator, Train Dispatcher, Chief Train Dispatcher, and held management positions of Locomotive Power Coordinator, A/Manager of Operations, Manager of Operations, and Senior Manager-Train Control. His Federal experience consisted of duties such as Inspector-in-Charge in train derailment investigations, as a team leader in railroad operating rules audits and assessments, Alcohol and Drug program that embraces the procedures for random drug testing, pre-employment testing, post accident testing, reasonable cause testing, and reasonable suspicion testing.
Also, focused inspections and observations of safety rules and proper radio procedures, and accidents/incident reporting for personal injuries, occupational illnesses, equipment damages reports, and intimidation/harassment factors.
